How we work and how we are paid

The HVAC Index is an information and matching service run by Base, not a contractor. Estimates are ranges built from published prices and are not quotes; an installer sets the price after seeing your home. Rebate amounts and availability are set by each utility and program and can change; an installer confirms eligibility. Participating installers are independent businesses responsible for their own licensing and work.

What The HVAC Index is

The HVAC Index is an advertising and matching service. You tell us what you need; if you choose to confirm, we pass your request to one participating local installer. We don't perform the service, give professional advice, evaluate your situation, or recommend one provider over another.

How we are paid

The HVAC Index is free to you. Participating providers pay us a flat fee for each request they receive. The fee is the same whether or not you hire anyone and whatever the result. We do not take a percentage of any fee, price, settlement or recovery, and we do not share fees with providers.

Your consent

Before anything is passed on, you see the exact consent wording next to an unchecked box. Ticking it is your choice; consent is not a condition of getting information on this site. The wording, the time, the page and the network address you used are stored as a record of your consent.

AI assistant

The chat is run by an AI model. It helps fill in the questions. It can make mistakes, which is why you review a summary and your contact details before anything is sent. You can use the short form instead at any time.

Calls and texts

If you consent, the participating provider and The HVAC Index may contact you by phone, text and email, including with automated technology. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of texts.
