## How the ranges are built

- **Central AC, 2 to 2.5 ton, 14-16 SEER2, ducts existing** Low is $4,500, the 2.5-ton Fixr and NJ statewide floor; high is $9,000, the top of the NJ 2-3 ton range (above Fixr's $7,500-$8,000 and Pick Comfort's $7,200). Pick Comfort's $2,800 and PICKHVAC's $3,000 floors are national or low outliers and are left out. Rows are SEER, not SEER2.
- **Central AC, 3 to 4 ton, 14-16 SEER2, ducts existing** Low is $5,500, close to the Long Island and Westchester 3-ton floors ($5,800-$6,200) and the NJ 2-3 ton floor; high is $12,000, the top of the Westchester range and just under the NJ 4-5 ton ($12,500) and Fixr 4-ton ($11,600) highs. The NYC contractor's $15,000 top is above the band and the Manhattan/Brooklyn 3-ton range ($7,500-$11,500) sits inside. ## What we could not confirm

- No installer-authored central AC price page was found for NYC, Long Island or NJ; every row is a contractor marketing page, an estimator or a lead-generation guide, and the NYC contractor page is on a pages.dev domain.
- The most regional detail (five NY regions) comes from one estimator site (CentralACInstallCost.com) that says it is not an HVAC contractor; its NJ page returned 404, so NJ rests on AskDoss, HVAC Project Cost, Pick Comfort and LatestCost.
- HomeAdvisor New York (a $4,034-$8,408 snippet was seen in search results only), Angi, Forbes Home, HomeGuide, Modernize and Sears Home Services pages returned 403 or could not be opened and were not used.
- No source prices SEER2 14, 15 and 16 separately for NY/NJ; PSE&G-area rows are in SEER, not SEER2. No Reddit or forum quote with stated location and year was found; zero quote-sample rows.
- No central AC rebate was confirmed: PSEG Long Island's rebates page read lists heat pump, thermostat and geothermal items but no central AC amount; Con Edison's central AC rebate, JCP&L's and the NYC contractor's 'up to $1,000 for SEER 16+' claim were only seen on third-party pages and not used.
